1) 'Black is the Color of my Voice' at Crewe Lyceum Theatre
This Wednesday head to Crewe Lyceum for this moving performance inspired by the life and songs of Nina Simone. Apphia Campbell’s acclaimed play follows a successful jazz singer and civil rights activist as she seeks redemption after the untimely death of her father. She reflects on the journey that took her from a young piano prodigy destined for a life in the service of the church, to a renowned jazz vocalist at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement.
The show has played nationally and internationally to standing ovations from Shanghai and New York to Edinburgh and the West End of London. It recently toured Australia and won the Best Theatre Award at Adelaide Fringe 2024. Find out more ->
2) The Dreamer at The Brindley
James Phelan, the magician behind the UK’s number one touring magic show The Greatest Magician, is bringing his new production The Dreamer to the Brindley Theatre this Thursday. The production promises stunning visuals, captivating effects while borrowing from James' personal story of determination and dreams. Touching on his parents' 12-year struggle with IVF, and how he went from performing in his bedroom to selling out theatres across the country with his own primetime BBC show. 3) Sundown Adventures at Go Ape! Delamere Forest
Back by popular demand. Go Ape Sundown Adventures is back from this weekend until 9th November, offering a new level of forest fun in the dark. Become a creature of the night as you climb through the canopy on a high ropes course lit with colourful lights. Test your skills on tree top crossings and experience the thrill of a zip wire ride into the darkness. 5) Roots and Reflections Exhibition at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery
This week and until 5th January, you can explore the rich and diverse history of Black Britain through the eyes of young artists at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery. Roots and Reflections: A Journey Through Black British History celebrates the creativity of primary schoolchildren as they explore Black British history and culture. In collaboration with artist Tina Ramos Ekongo and funded by Arts Council England, this exhibition showcases the children’s vibrant artworks, reflecting their journey of discovery and empowerment.
